Foxglove by Adalyn Grace – Review

Foxglove is the captivating sequel to the Gothic-infused Belladonna, in which Signa and Death face a supernatural foe determined to tear them apart.

A duke has been murdered. The lord of Thorn Grove has been framed. And Fate, the elusive brother of Death, has taken up residence in a sumptuous palace nearby. He’s hell-bent on revenge after Death took the life of the woman he loved many years ago…and now he’s determined to have Signa for himself, no matter the cost.

Signa and her cousin Blythe are certain that Fate can save Elijah Hawthorne from wrongful imprisonment, if the girls will entertain Fate’s presence. But the more time they spend with him, the more frightening their reality becomes, as Signa exhibits dramatic new powers that link her to Fate’s past. With mysteries and danger around every corner, the cousins must decide whom they can trust as they navigate their futures in high society, unravel the murders that haunt their family, and play Fate’s unexpected games—all with their destinies hanging in the balance.

Daring, suspenseful, and seductive, this sequel to Death and Signa’s story is as utterly romantic as it is perfectly deadly.

Purchase Link: Belladonna | Foxglove

I picked up Foxglove immediately after finishing Belladonna because I wasn’t ready to leave that world or those characters behind. When a book pulls me in that deeply, I want the sequel to feel like stepping right back through the same door, not starting over somewhere new. Foxglove delivered exactly that.

One of the things I appreciated most about this sequel is how seamlessly it continues the story. The setting, the characters, and even the tone felt like I never left. Instead of shifting perspectives or changing direction, this book builds directly on the foundation laid in Belladonna. Because the rules of the world and the existence of spirits and immortal beings were already established, Foxglove was able to go deeper rather than broader.

The afterlife and the world behind the veil became far more complex in this installment. In Belladonna, we were learning alongside Signa that spirits exist, that Death is real, and that there are forces at work beyond human understanding. In Foxglove, that veil is pulled back further. We begin to see who else exists in that space, what power looks like there, and how much influence those beings truly have over the living.

Signa herself felt more grounded and more confident in this book. She is still shaped by loss and injustice, but she is no longer defined by them. Her strength becomes more visible, not just something she carries internally. She begins to step into who she wants to be and how she wants to exist in society, and it was incredibly satisfying to watch her move from being feared and judged to being someone others could rely on.

Death’s return felt familiar and welcome, with all of his twisted, tortured depth intact. But the introduction of Fate changed the dynamic entirely. Fate is dark, moody, and deeply unsettling in the best way. His presence opened up questions about power, control, and the rules that govern immortal beings. Watching the tension between Death and Fate unfold, and trying to understand what happened between them, added a new layer of intrigue to the story. I found myself constantly questioning Fate’s motives and wondering whether he was meant to help or harm.

Foxglove didn’t just expand the world. It complicated it. The stakes felt higher, the choices heavier, and the lines between right and wrong more blurred. While Belladonna pulled me in with mystery and atmosphere, Foxglove kept me invested by deepening relationships and revealing how much influence these unseen forces truly have.

I loved returning to this world, and by the end, I felt even more curious about where this story is heading next. Foxglove strengthened my attachment to these characters and left me eager to continue the series.
