Holly by Adalyn Grace – Review

Something strange is happening at Wisteria Gardens, the manor that Blythe and Aris call home. All they want is a peaceful holiday season with their family, but a group of restless spirits is determined to threaten their festivities. With a new mystery to solve, Signa, Death, Blythe, and Fate must uncover what happened to Wisteria’s ghostly inhabitants and help the spirits move on … before it’s too late.

I chose Holly because it marks the completion of a series I truly loved. I was already heartbroken knowing it was ending, and this novella felt like both a gift and a goodbye.

Although it’s technically labeled as a novella, at 384 pages it reads very much like a full novel. The Christmas setting immediately welcomed me back into the world, this time draped in holiday magic. It felt familiar, comforting, and emotionally rich from the start.

Structurally, this didn’t feel like a “3.5” at all. It felt like the fourth and final book. The plot is lighter and more joyful than the previous installments, but it still carries meaningful challenges, mysteries, and moments of strife. What stood out most was how it honored the tone and themes of the original trilogy while offering a gentler, more hopeful conclusion. It felt like a true farewell, not an afterthought.

This story focuses entirely on the four characters we’ve grown with from the beginning. Death, Fate, Signa, and Blythe are all given space here, with special appearances from Elijah as well. Returning to them as a complete group made the story feel deeply satisfying and emotionally grounded.

What lingered with me most was the warmth of the found family they built over the course of the series. There is a real sense of conclusion here as they face the next unwritten chapter of their lives. Alongside that warmth is grief. Grief that their story continues without us, and that we don’t get to walk that road beside them anymore.

Holly is a must read for fantasy romantasy, gothic paranormal, and magical realism lovers who have followed this series from the beginning. It is absolutely meant to be read as part of the full arc, and it offers a meaningful, heartfelt goodbye to a world that meant so much.
