Secrets, lies, and cover ups run rampant in the shadows of the hospital where Noah is doing his residency. Like many before him, he is expected to conform to the long hours and high demands, even when it means making life or death mistakes.

This is the second book by JL Lycette about the committee that I’ve read. They’re not exactly a consecutive series, but there are reoccurring characters, so while this one can be read as a standalone, I definitely recommend reading them both! I enjoyed the first one, but I think I liked this one even better!

Noah’s character was relatable, as were the struggles he faced. Lycette created a hospital environment that felt so real with characters facing very raw human struggles. I was captivated from the beginning all the way through.

There was a bit of a shock near the end and a part near the beginning that I would have loved a more independent look into… but I can’t say much more without a spoiler alert. Maybe leaving room for a third novel?
