Synopsis:

Rowan Campbell has a stalker. Only her magic can stop him.
Her stalker’s obsession goes beyond Rowan’s natural beauty: he wants to control the magic she struggles to admit she possesses. More than anything, Rowan longs for normalcy. But the stalker’s unlimited resources and unrelenting pursuit force her to accept that leaning into her magic is the only path to a chance to free herself. Angry and desperate, Rowan builds a plan to break free of her pursuer that requires her to come out of hiding, return home to America, and learn to use her inherited abilities. To do so, she’ll enlist the help of her white hat hacker brother, Griff, and her aunt, the only living connection to her magic. Before she’s ready to face her stalker, Rowan must evade capture, learn about her magical legacy, and accept that she can only prevail if she believes in herself and embraces her power.
Wired For Magic is the fast-paced story of a woman’s journey to come to terms with her personal power in a battle for her life, freedom, and the chance to open a path to love.

I picked this one up because… hello? Magic! That’s usually enough to get my attention, and this one is also part of a Partners in Crime book tour, which made it an easy yes for me.

Reading Experience
This was an interesting read for me, but it was definitely a bit slower paced than what I typically gravitate toward. It took about half of the book for the main plot to really kick in. There’s a lot of backstory and foundation being laid in the beginning, but once things started moving, I was more engaged.
Story Structure
The story is told through three different points of view, which adds layers to the narrative.
We follow Rowan, our main character, who is a former model turned photographer with inherited magical abilities she’s still very much in denial about. She’s constantly on the move, trying to stay ahead of a stalker who is obsessed not only with her, but with her magic.
We also hear from her brother, Griff, who is a hacker with a lot of technical connections. While he’s meant to be protective, his constant doubt and refusal to believe in the magical lineage of the women in his family made him more frustrating than supportive at times.
And then there’s Jarrod… Rowan’s stalker. His perspective is unsettling and honestly uncomfortable to read. His obsession is intense and invasive, and those chapters definitely added a darker tone to the story.
Characters
Rowan is an interesting character to follow. She’s strong in some ways, but also deeply in denial about a huge part of who she is. Watching her navigate that tension is a big part of the story.
Griff, as mentioned, was a bit frustrating for me. You can see that he wants to be there for his sister, but his refusal to truly listen to or believe her made it hard to fully get behind him.
Jared’s chapters were effective in the sense that they created discomfort, but they were also difficult to read at times because of how intense and unsettling his perspective was.
I also liked the presence of Aunt Maya, who represents a connection to Rowan’s magical roots and offers the support Rowan has been avoiding.
Tone
There are several strong elements here: the stalker plotline, the hacker side through Griff, and the generational magic.
I sometimes found myself questioning Rowan’s long-standing avoidance of her magic. Given her situation, it was hard for me to fully understand why she hadn’t leaned into it sooner, especially with the resources and connections she had available.

Final Thoughts
Overall, this was an interesting concept with a lot going on. I appreciated the mix of suspense, magic, and personal growth.
If you enjoy stories that combine modern settings with magical elements and a darker, suspenseful edge, this might be one to check out!
